NO PLACE IN MIND - GUITAR COVER BY FELIX FUKUYOSHI (Germany, 2020)

shoot / edit

This was created more out of boredom and the urge to test out some more vintage lenses. Performance wise I find it rather meh but I absolutely love the original version and wanted to have a go at it. The lyrics and melody resonate a lot with me. I shot this at a former Soviet military base near my place which gave it a very nostalgic feel. I shot everything during golden hour in the evening to get this warm, dreamy tone. Fittingly I used old vintage lenses (I'm just such a fan of old glass) - amongst them an old Russian lens (Helios 44m-4) which was probably in use at around the same time like the military base (post WW2)! In fact many of those old lenses are not the sharpest and there's even some very noticable chromatic aberation but in this situation it just adds to the overall vintage feel. In other situaions those vintage lenses wouldn't be quite as suitable. All was filmed with the epic Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k (4K DCI resolution, B-RAW codec, Q5 compression). I did do some color grading in Davinci Resolve to enhance the vintage look!
